If there's one thing people know about me, it's my love for braids. Majority of the time if there's any hairstyle i'll have it's usually braids. There's just something about them that i really love.
I have no problem at all with weaves, or other hairstyles. They are beautiful and everyone is entitled to whatever they like. However, when it comes to me, braids are just my thing. I'm not going to lie though, growing up I hated getting my hair braided because of the tedious hours of just sitting around waiting for it to finish. Now, however, the hours aren't even the slightest bit of my worry, because I know the end product is worth it.
There are many different styles to choose from, for example box braids, twist, fishtail, four strand, to name a few. Then of course the different colours! I've never been one who was bold enough to try out over the top colours though, but it does suit some people. In school I would tend to stick with black, although last year December I tried out Ombre and fell in love with it.
The benefits for me with braids is that they really help grow my hair. I do have to look after them and take care of them with hair food and sprays, but I’d rather take this easy 3 minute task over sitting and combing my hair any day. It's faster and quicker and I love styling the braids in different ways. So it’s different looks from one hair style and without going to the salon for that matter…what a benefit!
With Winter just around the corner I'll definitely be back at it again with the braids and I won't be stopping anytime soon. To anyone who wants to try braids but are too scared, I say just try it out anyway. You'll be surprised and who knows, maybe that'll end up being your favourite style.
