As a young girl growing up, makeup was always something of an interest to me. The very idea of "painting" my face with any colour I could ever imagine excited me. Obviously though, as time went by and years passed my love for makeup only increased. Although, it did go from the painting of the face to very minimal lip and eye wear.
My all time favourite makeup item is definitely lipstick. I generally took a liking to lipsticks but as I matured and entered Matric (my last year of high school) I started discovering "new" brands, different shades and different types. It didn't take me long though to realise that I actually favoured matte lipsticks and not only that but darker shades.
Lipstick for me, is my way of showing to people who I am and what type of mood I'm in. I generally tend to coordinate my lipstick according to whether I'm going out that day/night or just for a casual day time look. However, there are times when you will find me breaking those boundaries and opting for a bolder colour during the day, because lets face it...some lipstick shades are just too good to only wear in the night where they are only seen under good lighting.
With all that said, these are just a few of my go-to all time favourite lipsticks. Feel free to drop a comment below on what your favourite lipsticks are!
What's lipstick without a good swatch?
This special colour is actually one of my favourite colours at the moment. Why? because it's one out of two liquid matte lipsticks given to me by my cousin whose from the UK! You don't get this brand in South Africa so I was so excited when they came down for the holidays literally a week ago and told me I could have them! The colour is Teddy (LIPL|10) by NYX. It's a nude colour on my lips and it goes well with any occasion.
If you know me well, you'll know just how hard I had been looking for this particular colour last year. Everywhere I went it was always sold out. (I don't blame the customers though, I mean have you seen this colour?) When I finally got a hold of it I promise, it was definitely worth the wait. This matte lipstick is called Sin by Mac and I got it in Pavilion in the Mac shop.
Bobbi Brown never disappoints and this is a prime example of how it manages to stay on top. This colour has lasted me a hell of a long time and I'm very happy to say that it still has a long way to go. It's a very deep and dark maroon brown which goes by the name of Black Maple. I got this one in Pavilion as well, in the Bobbie Brown section in Edgars.
This is the second one by NYX that I was lucky enough to be given. It goes by the name of Exotic (LIPL|12) and it's a matte pink. Most of the time when I wear this one, I like to mix it with Teddy to get a more subtle pink.
Last, but most definitely not least is this cute purple colour I got from Avon. If you can't already tell I'm not one to go for bright colours, so when I ordered this one I was pretty skeptical of how it would look on me. However, I just decided to go for it since I had already once tried on Heroine by Mac and it seemed to suit me. Let's just say, I had made a good decision by buying it because I really do love it. It's by Avon and I ordered it, the colour is Vivid Violet.
Vimbai and Lindi are two best friends who have always had a desire for new beginnings. Having just finished Matric, they decided it was the perfect time to chase their passions. Together they decided to venture out into the blogging industry.
