“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.” Being from Durban, South Africa I have never really experienced that "fall feeling" that comes with the very obvious change in season. Now that I've been in America for awhile I am definitely beginning to see the appeal of fall. The temperatures drop and the leaves begin to change to beautiful browns, orange and red tones! Literally just walking down the street I am overwhelmed by the breath taking views of fall. With the change in season comes the need to change your lifestyle up a bit, summer activities such as going swimming or sipping an ice cold drink, no longer hold their original appeal. No, Autumn calls for a whole new set of activities! Vimbai and I have compiled a list of fun yet budget friendly activities to help make fall a fun season for all! L.W ✈ V.Z xx 1. Head to a Pumpkin patch Okay yes, the most obvious fall activity of them all. But what is not to love about running around a pumpkin patch and picking up the best pumpkin you can find! Plus imagine all the things you can do with your pumpkin. Can't imagine, well then let us tell you! 2. Make a Pumpkin Pie So now you went and purchased the best pumpkin! Why not go ahead and make a yummy pumpkin pie. Whatever you do don't forget the whipped cream or vanilla ice-cream, heck it's fall why not add both! Not sure how to make a pumpkin pie or looking for a new recipe, checkout these links: Libby's Famous Pumpkin Pie Gluten & Dairy Free Maple Pumpkin Pie 3. Sip on a Pumpkin Spice latte Pssst don't forget spice, spice, baby! If you haven't truly had enough pumpkin in your life go ahead and make a yummy spiced pumpkin latte. Or better yet just pick up one from your local coffee shop or cafe! 4. Get creative with Pumpkin Carving I am beginning to see a theme in this blog post, 'tis the season for. . . Pumpkins? That's how the saying goes. . . no, oh well I will stick with that! What better way to save money than to make use out of your poor pumpkin. Grab a friend or family member and carve that pumpkin up. When you're done, post it on Instagram to really make your friends jealous. I mean look at you doing the most with what you have, "You Go Glen Coco!" Never done it before here are some tips : How to Carve a Pumpkin Like a Pro 5 Pumpkin-Carving Hacks 5. Hot chocolate and Game Night Okay okay, so I am all pumpkin-ed out. I am sure we could come up with a list of 101 things to do with a pumpkin but boy am I done with that! What better way to enjoy fall then by making a giant cuppa hot chocolate and enjoying a relaxing evening of games and laughter! Game night is what you make it people, so make it super awesome! Be sure to keep the hot chocolate a safe distance from the game "arena" we all know how competitive people can get! (does 30 seconds turn into world war 3 for anyone else? Just me? Well okay then... 6. Netflix marathon Well, well, well it ain't fall without Netflix and chill #cuffingseason. Am I right? Grab a warm blanket, turn down the lights and prepare to binge watch all day and night. Here is a Buzzfeed link to: 18 Binge-Worthy Shows 7. Picnic in the Botanical Garden When I think Fall my mind immediately thinks of picnics! There is something magical about a garden in Fall. The picnic doesn't have to be fancy just prep some food at home, get a blanket or a beach towel and head to the botanical garden. To lazy to drive? Set up the picnic in your backyard and enjoy the Autumn breeze, I mean views. 8. Hiking Find a squad and head to your local hiking spot. The weather is perfect around this time, not too hot or cold, plus the scenery will be beautiful because of the changing colors of the leaves. I mean think about it people, since Thanksgiving is over with I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels as if a hike is much needed, and with Christmas around the corner better make those hikes twice a week! 9. Learn to knit or crotchet Okay, so despite the stereotypes, this one really is for everyone. It's actually super fun and easy, and it will be just in time for winter, so you can knit beanies, scarves, gloves. So, put down those phones and pick up those knitting needles and lets get knitting! Don't stress if your first attempt isn't recognizable, practice always makes perfect. 10. Build a bonfire Last but certainly not least, a bonfire. All you need is wood... a lot of wood, matches or lighters, whichever you feel more comfortable with. The place you do this needs to be a fire friendly area. Now that you've gotten the necessities out the way, call up some of your favorite people and just have a hell of a blast with them. Use this time to reminisce about memories that have taken place over the year, to catch up with old friends and to just enjoy the company of others in general. Fall is a season to enjoy so enjoy it to the fullest. Do you have any crazy and exciting fall actives. Feel free to share the joy below. Most importantly have a festive and memorable fall 216!
